Not only has she been involved in various theatrical productions, but she has also taken on the role of a director for some of them, showcasing her multifaceted talent and commitment to the arts.

Beginning of career 

Shriya began her career when she was only five through television and captivated audiences with the portrayal of the character “Bittu” in “Tu Tu Mein Mein”. The first stint on stage occurred in 2012 in a short play by Karan Shetty named “Freedom of Love”. In this show, she demonstrated her versatile capability in acting, singing and dancing. 

The first occurrence in films is seen in the 2013 Marathi film, “Ekulti Ek”. Shriya’s opportunity is broadened due to her parents’ being directors and producers as well as actors and actresses.  

The film garnered her several accolades, including the Maharashtra State Film Award for Best Debut Actress. A

critic from The Times of India lauded her debut, stating, “It’s the

perfect launch for his (Sachin Pilgaonkar) daughter Shriya into films, and she does not disappoint.”

After her success in “Ekulti Ek,” Pilgaonkar graced the stage in productions like “Internal Affairs” and “Common People.” Expanding her horizons, she ventured into international cinema with a role in the French film “Un plus une.” 

Oscar-winning filmmaker Claude Lelouch directed it. In this film, she portrayed the character Ayanna, an Indian dancer and actor. Shriya Pilgaonkar made her Bollywood debut in the 2016 film “Fan,” a significant milestone achieved after a rigorous audition process involving 750 girls. 

Cast alongside Shah Rukh Khan, she essayed the role of Neha, a call centre employee based in Delhi and a friend to Gaurav. The release of “Fan” garnered her widespread acclaim, with Taran Adarsh from Bollywood Hungama. It described her performance as “wonderful,” marking a noteworthy breakthrough in her career.


Shriya achieved an immense opportunity by portraying the character of “Sweety Gupta” at the opposite of Ali Fazal in “Mirzapur”. It was a strong, independent character of a woman that caught the eyes of several spectators. However, she later confirmed that Sweety wouldn’t be making a return in subsequent seasons after the first.

In 2019, Pilgaonkar collaborated with Ali Fazal once again for the film “House Arrest.” The following year, she portrayed the character Nimmo alongside Sunny Kaushal in “Bhangra Paa Le.” 

Undeterred, Pilgaonkar diversified her roles in 2020, playing a social media influencer named Suhani in the first season of “The Gone Game”. It took on the character of RAW agent Divya in “Crackdown.” Her performances in both series garnered positive responses, with India Today acknowledging that she “impresses” in her role as Divya, also known as Mariam.

While 2021 saw a relatively quieter year for Pilgaonkar, she left her mark in the bilingual film “Kaadan.” Despite a lighter project load, her diverse and compelling portrayals continue to establish her as a versatile talent in the entertainment industry. 

Then to present 

In the dynamic landscape of web entertainment, Shriya Pilgaonkar made a significant impact in 2022 with four diverse releases. 

Continuing her web presence, Pilgaonkar featured in the second season of “The Gone Game”. It took on the role of host in the web reality show “The Great Indian Bride.” Demonstrating her versatility, she concluded the year with a

compelling performance as investigative journalist Radha in “The Broken


Namrata Thakker from acknowledged Pilgaonkar’s captivating portrayal, that she “steals the show” as the fiery and righteous journalist, bringing a humane touch to her character. In 2023, Pilgaonkar kicked off the year with the titular role in the short film “Sita”. 

It subsequently portrayed the character Madhubala, a sex worker, in “Taaza Khabar” alongside Bhuvan Bam. Her consistent and confident performances garnered praise and also led to her receiving the ITA Award for Best Actress Comedy – OTT. 

Pilgaonkar’s diverse roles continued with her portrayal of an independent pregnant woman, Siya, in the film “Ishq-e-Nadaan.” Concluding her impactful year, she played the outspoken wife Nirmala in “Dry Day” opposite Jitendra Kumar. 

In addition to her acting career, Pilgaonkar wears the hats of a director and producer, particularly in the domain of short films. A vacation at Harvard University for summer school in 2012 inspired her to delve into filmmaking. 

Confident in her abilities, she directed “Painted Signal,” a short film, and co-directed the documentary “Panchgavya” with Hana Kitasei. It shed light on the challenges faced by cows in Bikaner, Rajasthan. 

Pilgaonkar’s directorial efforts also extend to “Dresswala,” a short film co-directed and edited with Siddharth Joglekar. It earned official selection status at the 2012 Mumbai Film Festival. While “Painted Signal” and “Dresswala” received mixed critical responses, they found a platform at international film festivals, showcasing Pilgaonkar’s diverse talents beyond acting.

Early Life

Shriya Pilgaonkar came into existence on 25th April 1989 in a Marathi Hindu family. She is the only child of the renowned actress and actor Sachil Pilgaonkar and Supriya Pilgaonkar.
